I'm baack! 28 week update...

So sorry for being M.I.A. the past 2 weeks. I know traveling can take awhile to get readjusted when you get home but boy, this time I needed a couple of days just to get my life back in order! We got home late Tuesday night and Wednesday and Thursday seem to be a blur since work was absolutely crazy and not to mention, closing up this semester of school I had tons of assignments to catch up on. Mark and I spent this entire weekend getting the house back in order.. re-stocking with groceries (we seriously needed, like, everything), cleaning my house top to bottom, catching up on loads of laundry, working on school assignments, etc. It was so nice to get away for a few days though!

So Kyle's first big event at the Roxy was a success! I was definitely a proud big sister. I know he's worked so hard these past 10 months to get his website up and running. I mean how cool is it that he was given the opportunity to book his first venue at the imfamous ROXY! It was SO cool! Here's (part of) the outside sign I took before it got dark..

Here's my cute little bro giving his opening speech before the concert..

Not only were the artists he booked absolutely awesome but the Roxy has since called him to let him know how happy they were with the outcome of his concert and wants him to host another event there! I'm so proud of him. :) Other than the concert, we did a lot of shopping (they seriously have the best stores in Cali!), eating (ugh.. scared to step on the scale this week at my doc appt!), and sight-seeing. We drove down to Newport Beach to go to Fashion Island since they have the coolest pet store there where you can pet all the dogs and we rode along the Pacific Coast Highway. Here's a cool picture of Newport below. There were houses all along this road that had this view in their backyard. How could you NOT love waking up to a view like this every single morning?

My only complaint I ever have about California (or at least the L.A. area) is the unbelievable amount of traffic. I really don't know how the people there sit in that every single day! We did a detour on our way to Santa Monica's 3rd Street Prominade because I never go to California without taking a ride up Mollhalland Drive to see all of the houses and the breath-taking views. We stopped and took a picture on our way up..

Now Lucy can say her first vacation was to California! (In utero, haha) Speaking of my Lu-lu girl.. I'm officially 28 weeks today. Yep, 12 more weeks to go! As much as I hope these next several weeks fly by, I'm telling myself to enjoy every single minute of it. After all, this will be the last time it will ever just be Mark and I (besides our four-legged son, of course). It's such a bitter sweet time for me because I am sooo anxious to meet her, hold her, kiss her little feet, bring her home from the hospital.. you get the point.. but I'm also terrified at the same time because whether we like it or not, we're having a BABY! As my grandma and mom always say - "raising your kids are the best days of your life" so I really, really look forward to it.

My belly is growing like crazy as you can see from the pic above. Here's a picture I took this morning...

She has been moving like crazy lately. I know she has to be getting so squished in there now. All day long she's constantly poking out her limbs.. whether it's a foot, elbow, head, butt.. you name it. It's always so uncomforable so I am always rubbing her and she'll eventually move. But then she'll stick it right out again in no time, it never fails. I can't lie though.. I absolutely love feeling her. I can honestly say the past 2 weeks or so since I can feel her so much, I've really started to bond with her even more. It's crazy the overwhelming amount of love I feel for her already!

Oh, and biiig news.. we are all done with the nursery! :) Well, it's not 100% complete but Mark finished all of the painting this weekend and we have the furniture all set up. He hung the curtains today and my mom and I set up the bedding. Mom came over with her letters that she painted and dresser knobs. We still have to hang up the letters on the wall (in the pics below you'll see them just sitting on the crib for the time being) and screw on the dresser knobs. We are going to put a glider in there caddy-cornered and we still have to add things to the wall. Other than that, it's coming along! It's so nice to be able to walk in there now and envision our little princess sleeping. :) Here are some pictures I took. Mark deserves all the credit since he slaved away so much to get this all done..

The pink and white afghan draped over the crib is the afghan my Gram made for me when I was a little girl. I think it fits well in Lucy's room! I plan to drape it over the glider once we get it. The pillow sham is on top that will also sit on the glider. You can't see the letters too well in this picture but they are outlined in dotted green paint which looks so good against the yellow walls and my mom hand-painted the daisies. I think she did an awesome job!

Right now this is just storing all of our things for now but you can see the picture frame I made for her. I can't wait to fill it with a newborn picture of her! We are going to put the matching lamp on top of the dresser as well.

Here's a view from the hallway looking in. The room is shaped so funny that it's hard to get pictures of the room in it's entirety. You can see the matching area rug and the valance and curtains.

Well that's all the updates I have this week! I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday (every 2 weeks now!) but that should just be routine and in and out. We don't get to have another ultrasound until about 33 weeks. I am SO anxious for that! I can't wait to get a better idea of what she's going to look like. :) Hope everyone has a wonderful week! I'm off to finish an exam now for school. :-/
